yoga Body Constitution
Body constitution is basically your body type. By knowing what your body constitution is, you can adjust your diet to understand which foods are complementary to you and which foods to avoid. There are five classes of body constitution: hot, warm, neutral, cool and cold. A neutral body constitution is centered between the Yin and the Yang. Warm and hot body constitutions are yang types; and cool and cold belong to the Yin category.
A person's body constitution can be summed up by the following:
you are always hot, have warm hands and feet, always full of energy, underweight by 20 pounds or more, and have a high sex drive -- you have a "hot" body constitution.
you are someone who likes summer more than winter, aren't normally tired, fairly active, and you enjoy sex more than eating -- you have a warm body constitution.
If you are always cold, have cold hands and feet, weigh more than 20 pounds over your ideal weight, are normally tired, laid back, patient and have a low sex drive -- you have a cold body constitution.
If you like winter over summer, are a little overweight, are fairly laxy and relaxed, enjoy food more than sex -- you have a cool body constitution.
When you have a combination of all of the above, you have a neutral body constitution.
Generally, knowing your body constitution allows you to choose foods that maintain harmony. For example, an individual who has a yang body constitution should eat more yin foods and reversed if the opposite is true. By following your unique body constitution, you should no longer suffer from food allergies and dietary imbalances.
Nutrition Philosophy
Holistic Nutrition embodies the idea that we are as different on the inside as we are on the outside. Since nutritional needs vary from individual to individual there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” diet. Holistic Nutrition draws from all of the world’s dietary traditions, from ancient Ayurveda to cutting edge technologies, in order to create a tailor-made program for each client according to their constitution, environment, nationality, and health and lifestyle concerns. Nutrition is not just about food, it is about living a lifestyle that promotes wellness. This approach to health also incorporates fitness, yoga, meditation, as well as guided visualisations.
Clients can expect major changes to occur in their understanding of their body as well as in their attitude, energy level and weight.

Ayurvedic Therapies
Some people are very sensitive to anesthesia so the best is to cleanse the body of its after-effects. Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detoxification) under the guidance of an Ayurvedic physician or practitioner is recommended to cleanse and strengthen the body’s immunity.
Before using any of the above Ayurvedic remedies, consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider. The information given here represents the opinions and recommendations of the author and does not necessarily reflect the views of LA YOGA Ayurveda and Health magazine

authentic Ayurveda and Yoga.
All over the world today the progress of man has resulted in the destruction of nature. The noxious chemical pollutants, deforestation, depletion of the ozone layer etc. Another aspect of the same thing is the way we are aggressively trying to interfere with nature by tampering with the human body. Due to the fast pace of life we do not allow the body itself to fight back, and therefore to wait it out. The indiscriminate use of man-made drugs can alter the natural body chemistry to such an extent that in some cases one would wonder whether it wouldn't have been better to have just left the person alone.
On the other hand, having gone so far, it is not practical to go back to base, or to ban drugs altogether, for there is no doubt that in emergency situations chemical drugs and systems could be vitally required. Also surgery could be the only life saving solution in certain cases.
Yet, in frequently recurring ailments, it is heartening to remember that Nature herself can cure, and that we can do ourselves some good by giving her a first chance.
Ayurveda from time immemorial aimed to cultivate a healthy respect for Nature and her secrets. The effort was to discover Natural principles, which we could adapt our own lifestyle to incorporate. And they discovered that untold, almost miraculous health benefits could be achieved simply by following Nature's own principles.
Anomalies in Body Constitution
yurveda is the deviation of Prakriti from its normal state. Prakriti is the constitution of body and mind that keeps them healthy. Vikruti in Ayurveda is a state of disease for body or mind or both. Vikriti occurs when tridoshas are not in equilibrium or a balanced state.
According to Ayurveda vikriti or deviation from normal body constitution is responsible for diseases. An Ayurvedic physician considers different elements of body constitution like the state of doshas, the principle type for the person, age, his/her physical capabilities (bala), the geographical location (desha) and the season and time (kala). In other words, an Ayurvedic physician cant come to conclusions based exclusively on external symptoms.
Taking into consideration all the above elements will enable the physician to accurately suggest a curing method that will give complete results. If diagnosis is impaired, the results too will be faulty.
